About Us
J.A.I.L. Ministry, Inc., is a Christ-centered jail ministry providing programs in prevention and intervention for the incarcerated in the Bell County Law Enforcement Center and the Juvenile Services Center. We are serving Belton, Temple, Killeen, and the surrounding Central Texas area. Our 501(c)(3) nonprofit ministers to offenders, criminal justice professionals, victims, and their families.
Our ministry officially began on September 10, 1987, under the direction of Chaplain Harold Ellis and eight volunteers. J.A.I.L. Ministry, Inc., was incorporated as a nonprofit ministry when 501(c)(3) documents were filed on February 21, 1992. At the end of 2015, our programs accounted for 47,756 contacts in the Bell County Law Enforcement Center and the Bell County Juvenile Services Center.
Support for our ministry is through donations from churches, businesses, and individuals. We believe that we must partner with local churches to participate in a special ministry to the "least of these" in response to Matthew 25: 34-40. It is our desire to involve volunteers at all levels in the ministry and to provide opportunities to work with all denominations, races, and cultures.
